Description:

The Buk-M2 (NATO name SA-17 Grizzly, Russian designation 9K317) is a Russian-made mobile medium-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system designed to protect field troops and logistical facilities from air threats. The SA-17 Grizzly is an upgraded version of the proven Buk-M1 mobile air defense system, maintaining its core features. It effectively targets strategic and tactical aircraft, tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, air-launched missiles, guided bombs, and helicopters, including hovering rotorcraft, even in the presence of heavy electronic countermeasures and intense enemy fire. The Buk-M2 can engage a wide range of targets—from aircraft to missiles—flying at altitudes between 10 and 24,000 meters, with a maximum range of 50 km under specified conditions. The SA-17 Grizzly can track and engage up to 24 targets simultaneously from any direction.
