AltHistory PiperTown is a large, highly detailed 4x Farming Simulator 25 map inspired by real terrain and rural farming layouts from the Missouri area. Designed for players who prefer bigger, more realistic fields, heavier equipment, custom traffic, detailed towns, and long-term farm development. This map is not suitable for low-end PCs. Map Size and Performance Notice - Map size: 4x - Terrain: 4096 x 4096 realistic terrain base - Tree count: Over 126,000 trees - Traffic: Custom stand-alone traffic system - Detail level: High-detail rural and town environment with custom roads, farms, fields, and scenery Performance Warning This is a demanding map. Farming Simulator loads extensive map data globally, affecting performance based on CPU, GPU, RAM, storage speed, graphics settings, and active mods. Low-end PCs may struggle. For optimal performance, use a mid-to-high-end gaming PC and reduce graphics settings such as object draw distance, foliage, and shadows. Economy Design AltHistory PiperTown features a realistic land-value system, where prices vary based on land use: - Bare fields without buildings are priced lower, focusing on productive land. - Established farms with buildings, yards, and infrastructure are priced higher, reflecting their added value. For example, the largest dairy farm costs around $5,966,741, including land, buildings, and infrastructure, providing players with long-term progression goals. Progression Philosophy The map promotes a practical farm-growth cycle: 1. Harvest current land 2. Cover operating costs 3. Replant or prepare for next crop 4. Save profits 5. Purchase new fields or farms 6. Expand equipment and operations over time This approach encourages natural progression without making money too easy or punishing players unfairly. Even on harder economy settings, players should be able to harvest, replant, and save money. Starting Equipment Players begin with substantial equipment suitable for larger fields, including large red machinery—if it’s not red, leave it in the shed. The fields are larger than base-game sizes, emphasizing bigger equipment and large-scale farming. Fields - Large, realistic layouts - Total of 52 fields - Varying sizes, prices, and purposes - Some are bare land, others part of established farms - Prices reflect land, buildings, and infrastructure where applicable Field Testing Fields were tested through a full working cycle: - Harvesting crops - Cutting hay - Tilling soil - AI worker behavior - Income and progression testing - Purchasing additional fields over time A custom workflow was used to define fields and reset ground states, ensuring proper AI recognition. AI Worker and Field State Notes Some fields were initially traced from plowed terrain, causing AI detection issues. A rebuild process corrected this by tracing, redefining, and resetting ground states, ensuring proper AI operation. If AI refuses to work on a valid-looking field, report the field number and include your log file. Custom Traffic The map uses a dedicated, stand-alone traffic system designed around its roads and rural environment. Please report issues such as: - Vehicles stopping permanently - Clipping objects - Entering farm yards incorrectly - Using roads they shouldn’t - Bunching or blocking intersections Terrain and Roads Inspired by local terrain, the map features realistic landforms and roads, avoiding flat, generic layouts. It includes town roads, farm access points, rural roads, large field entrances, off-map details, and elevation changes. Recommended Play Style Ideal for players who enjoy: - Large equipment - Long-term progression - Realistic field sizes - High-detail maps - Larger farms - Custom traffic and town layouts - Building from starter land to larger operations This map is not suited for small equipment or tiny fields. Testing Recommendations When testing or reporting bugs: - Start a new save - Test the initial field and hired AI workers - Check fields 1, 2, 30, and several large ones - Look for missing textures or log errors - Test sell points and traffic behavior - Save, reload, and verify field states Include in reports: - Field number or location - Your activity - Single or multiplayer - Active mods - PC specs if performance issues - `log.txt` if crashes or errors Performance Expectations Due to over 126,000 trees and extensive scenery, some areas may perform differently. Performance depends on: - Graphics settings - Tree/object draw distance - Active mods - Script mods - Traffic density - Hardware specs - Savegame progression - Multiplayer activity To improve performance, lower object draw distance, foliage, shadows, mirror quality, texture filtering, and anti-aliasing. Mod Compatibility Most standard mods should work; however, large maps with custom traffic and many objects may reveal issues with poorly optimized mods. Test with only the map active first, then gradually add mods. Map creator: Johnny / PiperTown Team Special thanks to veteran testers and Farming Simulator enthusiasts who helped refine map behavior, field progression, AI, and gameplay across versions. Final Note AltHistory PiperTown is built for players seeking a detailed, large-scale farming experience. It’s demanding, detailed, and designed around realistic progression, serious equipment, and long-term goals. Big fields. Big equipment. Big patience. Enjoy the map.
