Sell your livestock as meat instead of hauling them to the dealer. CURRENTLY DOES NOT WORK WITH REALISTIC LIVESTOCK If you run Realistic Livestock, do not install this yet. I'm actively working on a fix and hope to have compatibility available soon. Fully compatible with both the Animal Package – Vanilla Edition and Animal Package – AgroZone Edition. What it does The animal dealer pays you for a cow. The Mobile Butcher pays you for what’s on the cow. Call the butcher out to any pen on your farm, select your animals, and a butcher’s truck arrives to do the work on-site. You receive boxed meat on pallets, sitting on your farm, ready to sell at the Farmers Market, a restaurant, a kiosk, or anywhere that buys food products. It offers a better return than the dealer for most animals, and provides your livestock with a destination besides a trailer. Six products, one per animal: - Animal Product - Cattle: Beef - Water buffalo: Buffalo - Pigs: Pork - Chickens: Chicken - Goats: Goat - Sheep: Mutton No production chains, no intermediate steps, no clutter of half-finished goods. One animal in, one product out. Water buffalo fetches a premium over beef — leaner, rarer, and less meat per animal. Horses cannot be butchered. Their pens do not even appear in the menu. Build a Meat Pickup first Before placing an order, you need a place for the meat to go. Open Construction ? Production ? Factories and place a Meat Pickup. It’s inexpensive, one per farm, and it’s where every pallet produced by the butcher will be delivered. Place it somewhere with good access. This is more important than you might think. Placing an order Press Left Shift + B anywhere on foot, or use the console command mbButcher. Select a pen, choose your animals, and specify the quantity. Before confirming, you will see exactly what you’re getting: - How many kilograms of meat - Its value - The butcher’s fee - Your net profit - A warning if the animal dealer would pay more The animals leave your pen, and the fee is deducted from your account immediately upon confirmation — the butcher is already on his way, so you cannot sell the same animals twice while he’s en route. Rules the butcher follows Minimum age: Cattle and buffalo 12 months, pigs, sheep, and goats 6 months, chickens 3 months. Young animals still appear in the list, grayed out, with the age they need to reach. No slaughtering of day-old lambs for quick profit. Minimum health: Animals below 50% health will not be accepted. At or above 50%, health does not affect the payout — healthy animals are valued equally. Difficulty: Prices are balanced so that meat pays the same on Easy, Normal, and Hard modes. No advantage from difficulty bonuses. The truck and its operation when the farm layout is restrictive This is the part I’m most proud of, and the most complex. When you place an order, a box truck spawns on the road network and drives to your Meat Pickup under AI control. It parks nearby, performs the work, and then departs. It’s a nice visual touch that makes it feel like a service you called, not just a menu action. Farms vary. Some are down narrow tracks, some yards are tight for turning, and maps have varying AI navigation. During testing across four maps and eight farms, the truck sometimes struggled to get in or out. So, the driving is optimized but not guaranteed: - If the route is invalid or the truck gets stuck, it will stop trying and appear parked at the pickup. - On the way out, if it cannot drive off, it will leave. Either way, the work gets done, the meat is delivered, and you won’t be left waiting for a stuck truck. On farms with good road access, you see the entire trip. On tight yards, you see the truck arrive and do its work. Both scenarios work fine and cost nothing. The parking spot is chosen dynamically — the truck stops near but not directly on the pallets, leaving room to pull away. The Meat Pickup itself Marked on the ground for easy identification, it can hold a stack of pallets across two rows before filling up. Approach it to see what’s waiting. If it backs up because pallets aren’t cleared, it will notify you instead of silently dropping your meat. Moving a pallet out of the way releases everything, similar to a silo. Queued items remain after saving and quitting. Configurable options The butcherConfig.xml file in the mod folder is simple, commented XML. You can adjust: - The value multiplier, globally or per animal - The butcher’s fee per animal - The number of animals per visit - Minimum ages - Minimum health threshold - Work duration and whether the butcher drives in If you prefer the butcher to appear and start work immediately, disable driving in the config. Notes Multiplayer support is untested. All features were developed and tested in single-player mode. Compatibility with multiplayer is uncertain; feedback is welcome. Report any issues with map, farm, or butchering process. Realistic Livestock is not yet compatible — see the warning at the top. A fix is underway. No other mods are required. Bug reports are appreciated. Please include the map, farm, and details of the butchering process.
