What this mod does: Real Country Life or RCL aims to introduce realistic game mechanics without losing the fun element. Why I created the mod: The base game needs a mod that enhances realism by adding simple mechanics that are currently missing. Who it is for: RCL is perfect for players seeking greater realism in a game that has 'simulator' in its name. The mod adds gameplay features that boost immersion in the farmer's role by introducing a character who comments on various vanilla game systems, helping players understand real country life—with lightheartedness and jokes that make it all more lively. What the mod introduces: Wild Boars and Mice The base game allows land cultivation and farm product collection but doesn’t account for animals that can affect crop yields or require proper storage maintenance. Wild boars and mice must be kept in check. For wild boars, fences can be built in the fields (activated with a dedicated key in the RCL menu). Mice are fought with two cats, Tom and Sylvester, who can get tired, and when that happens, the only solution is to call an exterminator. Grandpa: Your farm belongs to your family, and you're here to help it thrive, but you're not alone: Grandpa, with his infinite wisdom, will give you tips throughout the day. He offers small or big hints about problems you encounter and suggests actions; he comments on almost everything, even grading your performance and giving a final verdict at year’s end. Your farm has value! Every screw in your tractor, house, or barn matters and must be kept in good condition to perform well. RCL introduces building management. For the first time, you'll need to manage not only animals and land but also your buildings. A barn in disrepair lowers Grandpa’s opinion of your care; neglecting production will halt operations. Maintenance costs money, and you can choose whether to repair at the right time or too late. Using the Precision Farming mod by Giants Software is optional; however, RCL detects its use and adapts accordingly. This mod is designed for single-player only and has not been tested in multiplayer. Updates will be posted here if there are any news. It’s recommended to start a new game when using this mod. I won’t reveal more details, but this is my very first mod. The idea was conceived in September, and by December, I developed the first game systems. In January, lacking programming skills, I started using Microsoft CoPilot with limited success. In February, I switched to Claude, which significantly improved the quality; from there, with more advanced models, the idea took shape. I respect skilled programmers who code by hand even today, in the age of AI. I had this idea in mind and used available tools to bring it to life. Thank you very much if you’ve read this far, and extra thanks if you download the mod—I hope you enjoy it. Alberto from Italy
