The modern Russian P-19 Radio-Frequency radar was upgraded and given a new designation, the P-19 "Danube." This new radar completed state testing and entered service with the Soviet Air Defense Forces starting in 1974. Like the earlier P-15, the P-19 was designed to detect low-flying aircraft and became associated with the S-125 "Neva" (NATO reporting name SA-3 "Goa") anti-aircraft system. The P-19 featured new electronics compared to the P-15, including a new magnetron transmitter. It remains in service today and has been widely exported; many companies offer upgrade options to enhance radar performance and reliability and to replace outdated components, although it has been succeeded by the newer Kasta series of radars.
