The Bedford M series trucks were a line of commercial vehicles available in both cab chassis and simple body chassis configurations, first appearing on the market in 1939. They featured a four-speed steering system with front-axle drive, a mechanical steering control on the chassis, and a four-wheel drive setup capable of carrying loads of 2 to 3 tons. Two main axle spacing options were offered—10' 0'' or 11' 11''—each equipped with a standard 6-cylinder gasoline engine producing 27.34 horsepower (27 HP). These trucks were paired with a 4-speed gearbox with a dry clutch and a hydraulic power brake system connected to the rear axle, utilizing a floating system with a spiral conical disc at the end. The brakes were operated hydraulically via a Lockheed four-wheel assisted servo system.
