In the 1960s, Kloeckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG ceased production of construction machinery. Subsequently, it was decided to convert a wheel loader from their construction equipment line into an agricultural tractor with articulated steering by rotating the driver's cab by 180 degrees and adding extra lights. As a result, the Deutz D16006 was introduced in 1969. However, it saw limited market success, and production was discontinued in 1975 with approximately 35 units built.
