Description:

Realistic Water & Soil Management expands Farming Simulator 25 with a comprehensive simulation of weather, soil water, irrigation, soil compaction, plant roots, weed competition, and yield development. The values are calculated locally for individual soil areas, creating different conditions within a field: one area can be dry and stable, while another suffers from waterlogging, compaction, or repeated passes. **Weather and regional climate data** RWSM enhances the game’s weather system with regional real climate and precipitation profiles from the past 10 years. It covers 39 countries, several regions per country, and all 16 German federal states with regional subdivisions. Precipitation, monthly distribution, temperature, evaporation, dry phases, and seasonal variations in the northern and southern hemispheres are considered. Rain, thunderstorms, snow, hail, and their water equivalents are recognized. Precipitation is stored and continuously influences the soil water balance. **Multi-layer soil water balance** The soil is modeled in three layers: - Topsoil, about 0-10 cm - Root zone, about 10-30 cm - Subsoil, about 30-60 cm Water content, availability to plants, saturation, infiltration, drainage, evaporation, seepage, and waterlogging are calculated for each layer. Plant-available water and physical saturation are separate values. A soil moisture content over 100% does not automatically mean the soil is fully saturated. **Soil types** The mod distinguishes: - Loamy sand - Sandy loam - Clay - Silty clay Each soil type has specific values for field capacity, wilting point, saturation, infiltration, drainage, compaction sensitivity, mud line, and bearing capacity. Light soils dry out faster, while heavy soils retain more water but are more prone to waterlogging and compaction. **Bauer Rainstar T32** Features include: - Hose length up to 220 meters - Movable sprinkler cart - Automatic hose retraction - Automatic parking brake - Pivoting irrigation sector - Realistic water jet and spray effects - Visible impact on the ground - Adjustable pump pressure and irrigation radius - Calculated application rate Pump pressure ranges from 3.5 to 11.0 bar, with a radius between 27 and 38 meters. These settings influence flow, jet width, strip width, water distribution, application height, and motor speed. The hose reel remains mostly stationary during retraction, while the sprinkler carriage moves to the reel. **Diesel pump and groundwater** The motor pump has a 450-liter diesel tank, consuming about 5 liters per hour under high load. Regular refueling is necessary. Water is sourced from groundwater and is available in unlimited quantities. The internal water level is automatically maintained. The diesel engine and water pump operate separately; engine sounds vary depending on load and operation status. Connection indicators show proper setup with visual cues. **Direct soil input through irrigation** Water application is not just visual; it distributes across topsoil, root zone, and subsoil, considering pressure, radius, flow, irrigation duration, soil type, saturation, and infiltration capacity. Excess water can cause runoff, poor trafficability, waterlogging, root damage, and mud. **Plant-dependent calculation** RWSM recognizes numerous crops, including wheat, barley, oats, corn, canola, sunflower, soybeans, potatoes, sugar beets, grass, alfalfa, sorghum, cotton, sugar cane, rice, peas, beans, spinach, carrots, parsnips, and beets. It considers optimal moisture ranges, drought and waterlogging sensitivity, root depth, nitrogen needs, pH range, compaction sensitivity, and temperature limits. **Root health** The mod simulates main roots, fine roots, and usable root depth. Root damage can occur due to prolonged waterlogging, oxygen deficiency, extreme dryness, top and subsoil compaction, deep lanes, repeated crossings, high wheel loads, slip, and driving on wet ground. Fine roots react faster and more strongly; recovery is slow and requires suitable moisture, low compaction, good drainage, and appropriate temperatures. No roots are simulated in uncultivated areas. **Soil compaction and vehicle traffic** Vehicle traffic is detected at wheel contact points, influenced by vehicle weight, wheel load, tire width, ground pressure, slip, speed, soil moisture, and repeated passes. Calculated effects include: - Topsoil and subsoil compaction - Track depth - Carrying capacity - Sink factor - Trafficability - Potential root damage On dry soil, effects are minimal; on wet or already compacted soil, compaction and damage increase significantly. **Tillage** The mod detects plowing, cultivating, disc harrowing, subsoiling, sowing, rolling, fertilizing, and vehicle traffic. Tillage can reduce compaction but may cause structural damage if the soil is too wet. Deep loosening works reliably within a suitable moisture window. Rolling can help reconsolidate soil after sowing but may increase compaction on wet ground. **Drivability, tire moisture, and mud** Soil moisture levels range from dry to extremely muddy, based on local values for moisture, saturation, soil type, bearing capacity, and track depth. Damp ground initially causes a film of moisture or soil on tires; heavy mud occurs with high saturation, reduced load capacity, and measurable sinking. Through the Water-Soil API, RWSM can work with compatible mods such as Visual Mud Tracks, combining ground condition data with tire visuals and particles. **Weed competition** Living weeds compete with crops for water and nutrients. Their impact depends on weed strength, coverage, crop type, growth stage, and soil moisture. Young crops like corn, potatoes, beets, and vegetables are especially sensitive. After treatment with a harrow, hoe, or herbicide, additional water consumption ceases. The standard weed yield deduction from the base game or precision farming remains applicable. **Realistic yield calculation** Actual yield is influenced server-side, considering: - Soil moisture and saturation - Drought and waterlogging stress - Root and fine root health - Soil compaction and track depth - Weed competition - Nitrogen and pH levels - Temperature and evaporation - Plant type and growth stage - Long-term soil history The RWSM yield factor ranges approximately from 28% to 103%. Only the harvested amount changes; the harvest area remains unchanged. **Precision farming compatibility** The mod detects precision farming features automatically. It can adopt nitrogen, pH, soil data, and yield potential. To prevent double penalties, RWSM reduces the weighting of nitrogen and pH when precision farming is active. **Simplified formula:** Basic game or PF yield × RWSM soil factor = actual yield **Visible plant development** RWSM uses existing LS25 growth stages to reveal local differences. Water stress, root damage, compaction, and yield potential can cause plants to appear smaller or less developed in certain areas. Fully harvestable stocks remain unaffected. **Savegame and multiplayer** The mod saves and synchronizes: - Soil water in all layers - Rainfall and irrigation history - Soil compaction and track depth - Root health and stress levels - Weed pressure - Earnings potential - Edit history - Traffic crossings - Pump pressure, radius, and hose position - Selected weather region Calculations are server-authoritative and designed for multiplayer. **Water-Soil API** RWSM offers a versioned interface allowing other mods to query soil type, moisture, saturation, trafficability, load capacity, sink factor, compaction, track depth, root health, tire moisture, mud intensity, and recommended tire pressure. **Current user interface status** In version 1.33.1, the additional RWSM map category, overlay, field info window, and FieldPhone are temporarily disabled.
